Wipe it off
If your mascara wand is loaded with way too much mascara it is a sure-fire way of causing ‘clumping’. Perhaps it is time to replace your wand but the easier option is to wipe the mascara off your wand with a paper towel. Perhaps a more serious problem is that bacteria might also begin to appear so it is recommended that you replace your mascara with a new one. Basically, if it starts to smell ‘off’ get rid of it.
Check the temp
It is a fact that if mascara is left in excessive heat it will age, actually that is the case for most make-up. It is important to think about where you store it. If you have waterproof mascara it is best kept in the fridge but wherever you keep any mascara make sure it is in a dry cool place that is not in direct sunlight.
Close them tight
You must make sure you are careful to see that you tightly replace the cap on your mascara when you are finished with it, to prevent unwanted particles or germs to get in. In actual fact the same care should be taken with all of your cosmetics. This can also help to extend the shelf life of your make-up.
Don’t be afraid to separate
If you are suffering from clumpy lashes, it is best sometimes to just separate them manually. But be sensible when doing this. Don’t use any instrument like a safety pin (as used to happen in days gone by) That is a very dangerous thing to do. You can try specialised tools such as an eyelash brush, which you can buy very cheaply.
