Collecting Vintage Perfume Bottles

Vintage Perfume Bottles

I have an interest in Collecting Vintage Perfume Bottles and I am excited about the prospect of adding to my Collection as time goes on.

Collecting Vintage Perfume Bottles and also Antique Perfume Bottles, has become quite a favourite pastime by many. These perfume bottles are unique and rare and because of this they have become a very sought after commodity.

Vintage and Antique Perfume Bottles can make wonderful display pieces and many Collectors enjoy them for this reason. Some people concentrate on a specific type of bottle, what is made of etc. Others choose a period in time such as Art Deco or Art nouveau. Still others may collect a particular Perfume House such as Christian Dior or Chanel or even start Collecting Vintage Perfume Bottles they simply like the look of.

The Perfume bottle can be known by various names such as decanters, vials, atomisers etc. and Collectors love them.

Perfume bottles have been in use for many centuries and some can be very rare indeed. However, Collectors today would probably focus on ‘antique’ or ‘vintage’ bottles. These would have been around for perhaps between 100 years and 20 years and, within that timescale, the more unique and rarer they are the more valuable they become. Value can also be determined by their condition.

However, it is not only age that necessarily determines the value of a Perfume Bottle. What they are made of, or how ornate their designs may have an influence on this too. Some are made of glass, some are made of crystal, but their value may depend on their marker. The ornate designs of some Vintage Perfume Bottles and these can be very special, which adds to their value.

What is interesting for me as a Collector is that these old Vintage and Antique perfume bottles have so much history that goes way beyond the last drop of scent that was in them and they are also very beautiful.
